A Ben Pearson own goal – Report
at 13:24:44

Agree with Norway. Larkeche only on for 2 minutes + added on but that never-say-die moment by the left hand corner flag winning 3 lost causes in quick succession - battling like a Tasmanian Devil with a fig of ginger up his jacksie was the moment of the night for me. Taking nothing away from the brilliant cameos from Dykes, Willock, and Linington, of course.

Colback bears gift to former club - Report
at 01:54:51

Great report Clive as ever. Nailed it. Love the left-foot stats. Regarding keeper distribution I made the same Begovic Green comparison during the game which reminded of a random encounter I had in the blue and white bar a long long time ago. 2014/15, it’s half-time or possibly well into the 2nd half of some Redknapp-nonsense I had no motivation to return to. I’m chatting with this fella, not a regular but that’s what’s happens when you find your team playing in the promised land. I could tell from his general demeanour and livery (wearing one of those below the knee fawn trench coats that wannabe cowboys and political lobbyists deem suitable) that he wasn’t primarily a football fan. “I work high up in international rugby coaching” He informs me. Part of my brain reflexes “whatever” but what he said next was interesting. In a nutshell he seemed genuinely exasperated that despite the obscene amounts of money involved with QPR (at the time) and Premier League football i general, here was a goalkeeper (Rob Green) who couldn’t kick a football properly. He went on to say it would take one, maybe two, training sessions on technique to sort it out. “He’s kicking with (just) his leg and not his whole body” thus slicing the ball into touch and losing possession. Made sense to me.

Beggsy you wanna remember those words of wisdom when you open up the ‘The Asmir Begovic Center for Kids Who Can't Catch Good but Wanna Learn to Do Good Goalkeeping Stuff - Chiswick Branch’

Things turn toxic as hapless QPR lose yet again - Report
at 19:05:29

The sorry state summed up accurately and eloquently as always. Just one thing. I’m wondering if a can of insect repellent could actually fend off a lion. Spraying it in the eyes might send the beast scurrying. Or maybe not. Either way it would make great half-time entertainment.
For the first duel of man with insect repellent vs lion with I nominate Ethan Laird.

I have a problem with the tone of this piece. It seems to perpetuate and normalise the notion that we should let Warburton go. And that’s not what QPR should be doing right now.

More clues on offer in rekindled Cardiff rivalry - Preview

Here he comes I said on Saturday as he came off the bench. “One-Goal Kanu”. Has any other player been flattered so much by scoring just the one, admittedly cracking, goal? Maybe the Mark Hately header for England versus Brazil in an 80s friendly which led to the AC Milan transfer.

WBA were more organised and have a stronger squad but they still only won by the fact we gifted them two goals. And again I’m hearing for all their ‘brilliance’ versus Leeds they couldn’t find the back of the onion bag. I’m not too down after Saturday and certainly not dismissing us yet. Maybe WBA, Leeds, and Fulham could pull away but there may be up to half the division scrambling for the last 3 play-off places and we could be one of them. Big test tonight against a team that haven’t lost at home. Could go either way. Will be interesting to see how the defensive re-jig goes. Cmon you Superhoops!

A few late additions for the connections. John O’Rourke and Bruce Rioch we’re both in the Luton side circa 1964 as was David Pleat. Who doesn’t have any QPR connections. Not even kerb-crawling on the Goldhawk Road.

Amplified Arsehole Also the title of the upcoming and pointless biopic of Liam Gallagher.

I was going to say an astute preview (and summation of the season so far) as always but the woeful umlaut-denuded effort at spelling Nïckö Hämäläläläïnïnïnën. Very pöör.

QPR hold their nerve to settle cup thriller - Report
at 13:39:43

Top report of a great night. I missed all of the first half due to prior commitments but still witnessed more excitement in the 2nd half and penalties than in over a decade of League Cup football previously seen in W12. MK Dons, Port Vale, oh the horrors!

So good to watch an exciting Rs team again. Manning seem to take the game by the scruff of the neck alone but generally the great team effort (which continued through the personnel and formation changes) led to a deserved Rs victory. My only quibble was why Barbet took the 5th pen and not Chair.

Great too to read Clive’s timely article in the official programme on the needless demise of Cup football. Here was a tie and two teams doing their best to resuscitate the competition with an evening of pulsating electric football.

QPR face 20 years of cup hurt as Rovers visit - Preview

Great piece. I felt the same revulsion when I saw the Redknapp piece in the subStandard. My first urge was a desire to punch the picture of his face very very hard. I'm glad I didn't as the paper was resting on a marble kitchen surface. Good summation of why this once great competition is now fcuked and how maybe it can be restored. FWIW I still <3 the FA Cup!
