George Cohen only got into the team shortly before the 66 WC because Jimmy Armfield got injured. He did alright and Alf decided to let him keep the shirt as he reckoned he didn't deserve to lose it. Otherwise, we would have had two players in the winning team in the final.

I don't understand why Belokon was under any obligation to help anyone.

Yes, a gesture would have been nice. But why does he have to make it?

Rott

I have to put up with South London gangsta-speak in my normal life. I'm not having it on a Blackpool message board.

There are quite a lot of things wrong with that OP.

First of all, he put in £9m, not £6m.

Secondly, he offered to settle at around £7.5m and the O's turned him down. SO he was hardly in it for a big payday.

Thirdly, most of the O's ducking and diving and delay was designed to stop him taking the club, even in lieu of some of the debt. The fact that it didn't happen was that the O's had one valuation for the club for the purposes of court, and a completely different one for the purposes of sale.

I have no idea of his depth of VB's feeling for the club, but he didn't need to keep lines of communication open in the way that he did, and I think we should be grateful that he made the effort to do it.

Finally, I have no idea what "mugged off" means.

It's funny how you get started with these things. One minute I'm just experimenting in the privacy of my own home, and the next I'm fighting the best of three falls or submissions with Billy Two Rivers at Halifax Town Hall....

Gawd, what a mix up. There have been some communications problems with the Enchantment Management Team and a misplaced vowel managed to creep into the works.

I've got an enchanted, but still very dodgy 70's haircut available at a reasonable price, should anyone want it........

... and the trolls have moved on to cauliflower.

It's all been a bit of a rush actually. Early trip to the airport to pick up a couple of Norwegians and I've spent the last hour enchanting a mallet. But there is still the altar to prepare and the trolls want their own carrots, so it is all a bit stressful.

Both Charltons, Roger Hunt, George Cohen and Nobby Stiles are still with us, although the latter has had dementia for a long time.

The lack of self-awareness of that organisation is astonishing.

The pity of it is that two or three of his drones were left behind at senior levels when he left. The purge needs to continue.

BBTRR

I suppose that means we are in the important role of saying "Leave it Donald, he's not worth it", while ushering POTUS to the taxi rank.

On a separate note, is it just me, or does the way they do funerals over there show a complete lack of respect for the dead?

PM's senior aide Dominic Cummings calls for civil service changes
at 19:51 4 Jan 2020

I meant, that if you let 40% of your Senioe Civil Service leave, in order to save a few bob, then eventually the gaps in your skill base start to show.

He's confusing skills with culture anyway. It is the latter that is the problem, and it isn't at senior level either. He doesn't like to be challenged, and has a skewed view as a result.

Structured Dialogue meeting minutes from 18/12/19
at 19:56 2 Jan 2020

I don't think they were straight-batted at all. But it isn't Steve's normal style, it has clearly been agree by Committee, as it were.

I think that the underlying theme here is that the club are still feeling their way on a number of issues - the academy being an obvious one. So continuing to engage with good ideas and constructive feedback is important.

NYE and a New year plans

NYE

we have a goose which we THINK between us we might just be able to wrestle into the oven. Apart from that, telly and a game of Scrabble.

NYD

lie in, late breakfast, newspapers and a walk in the park. Quiet, anyway.
