Tuesday was the first time I’d seen Madsen play live and he looks a good player to me. In the first half he was instrumental in all that was good and finding space and playing good balls forward, he probably did more attacking work in that half than Dozzell did in half a season Plus his penalty was outstanding Let’s not jump on his back just yet. |

All this bickering about contract lengths is a direct result of the new omertà from the club: it’s unnecessary and disrespectful to the fans IMO, and totally counter productive. Holding onto information and drip feeding just breeds distrust. Be honest, be inclusive, face the world with the truth |
| Forum Reply | Varane’s red sets Rangers on road to Rovers ruin – Report at 22:03 30 Sep 2024
After spending two weekends watching Bannon then Travis against us it’s massively obvious what our problem is - our centre midfield never show for the ball, ever, or if they do they pass it backwards. Field is no doubt an excellent defender, but non existent going forwards. Varane looked like he’d been watching Dozzell videos. Colback sort of does it sometimes, then gets sent off and misses three games. Presumably we bought Madsen to help with this but he’s more like Stuart Wardley, totally anonymous the whole game then chips in with the odd goal We’ve been crying out for someone in the super Ray mold for years now, someone who can find space and drive forward from midfield. I reckon we’d be better off playing Dembele in deep midfield and seeing what happens, at least his first reaction is to turn and doesn’t get knocked off the ball easily Don’t think I can bear another game watching our centre mids pointing at Cook to pass it wide and hiding. Chair papers over the cracks and we really need him back [Post edited 30 Sep 22:07]

Have to say in a functioning team the announcement that Marti had signed a new contract would normally be followed by the man himself with a few words to a captive audience Seems a bit weird |

Definitely true on Dave Mc - related to my other post about working at Ceefax in the late 90s, even all the way back then he was sending in great snippets about Rangers to the sports desk that nobody else had. |

York still sticks in my mind as the worst away ground toilets I’ve ever seen. Basically a brick-walled area next the terrace with no roof where you piss up against a wall into a trench |

I’ve done it by using the mixer output through “something Chinese I bought in 2021 on the internet” and then into the phono inputs on my old Sonos Play 5 (which still has them) You then get a “line in” option on the first gen app (after a ton of faffing about which again I think involved a lot of turning on and off again) Don’t know if it will work on the newer stuff |

I had this problem all the way back in lockdown as my Sonos gear is so old. The only solution I found was to stick with the ancient first gen app, which is still working albeit clunky with my three old speakers (2x3s and 1x5). I also managed to rig up an old Technics deck via some Chinese dongles direct into one of the speakers which works on the whole network (and is awesome), but I have completely forgotten how I did it now. If they break that's going to be a right headache. Shame that such good tech gets ruined by stupid management decisions. |

I worked on Ceefax Sport for a few years in the late 90s. By far the best job I've ever had - eight hour shifts basically watching live feeds of sport from all over the world that nobody else had access to, which I'd have paid to do back then, let alone get paid for it. Was quite the skill getting the headlines / reports to fit exactly on the page and on the final whistle, lateness and inaccuracy were not tolerated as so many other places used Ceefax for their info (bookies etc). I was doing Ceefax for that David Beckham England Greece game when we qualified, that took a lot of fast writing! I really miss it, was an amazing job. Pages 301, 302, 312, 340 engrained in my mind. Feels like a shame it’s obviously gone toxic in a way none of us are privy to, but I don’t get the idea that Kolli has shown that he’s the new Eze or whatever. When? He’s put in a few good crosses, gamely acted as a pointless target man in the Ainsworth era, and sported one of the best barnets of all time, but he needs a wake up call if he thinks he’s set the world on fire. |

You’ll be alright Raging Bull if you get to area early enough, plenty of free parking available I’ve still got my one secret space that nobody ever parks in, we’ve been using it for 25+ years. Mad dogs will have to drag it from me. Dreading the inevitable moment some Hammersmith and Fulham jobsworth figures it out and daubs double yellows on it |

Only caught the last half hour but considering there’s probably 5/6 of our best players not out there been pretty encouraging. I do like the Japanese lad. Has the makings of a real QPR player Field at centre back doesn’t look out of place either |
