LFW Betting Preview - Hull v QPR
LFW Betting Preview - Hull v QPR
Friday, 28th Jan 2011 22:33 by LFW Pundits

The boys return after a couple of small wins last week to cast their eye over the weekend markets at QPR's trip to Hull.

A small loss of £7.80 for Brian last week despite a couple of wins leaves him on £584.13 profit. No win for Andy, and no refunds either although Adel Taarabt’s through ball for the Routledge goal almost made it a shame that the ‘Taarabt to score last’ offer didn’t kick in. His profit is now just £20.39. But it’s a profit all the same.

Last week one horse selection did not run as both the meetings were cancelled but the Thyestes Chase was rescheduled for Friday afternoon so we still have our e/w bet going on Ballytrim. Two of our football Yankee came in so we get a return of £17.90 in total.

The Hull trip this week is a tricky one but I think we can get a point and the price for a 1-1 draw is 6/1. With the first scorer I am going to stick with Kaspars although Big Dan could be getting my pound soon now he is back.

On Tuesday Pompey are the visitors and I fancy us to beat them and will go for a 3-1 win Elsewhere on the FA Cup I fancy Crawley to beat Torquay and Forest to get a result at West Ham and with Spurs to beat Fulham and Wolves to draw with Stoke this makes up a Yankee In the league Norwich visit a struggling Palace and the Canaries have a great scoring record away from home and they should have no problems at Selhurst Park. Add Dundee United against a Hibernian team that has not scored in 2011 and have won two in 14 under Colin Calderwood and Walsall and you have a near 11/1 treble.

This week’s racing has more Cheltenham trials and there is a horse that has caught the eye that has 2 entries and we will have a wager on Rose of the Moon wherever it runs.

Good luck.

Let’s face it, the other week was a one off, and it’s back to normality with the vast majority of my bets crashing and burning, as per usual. Small wins for an overpriced Taarabt to score, and picking the right bet and not putting it on for over 2.5 goals in the Cardiff vs. Watford match fail to ease the disappointment in a pretty poor week betting wise.

This week is a double QPR match bet, as we’ve got Hull on Saturday, and Portsmouth on Tuesday. Looking at the Hull away game first, and there really is only one bet you should be considering – under 2.5 goals. The stats tell the story, in Hull’s 13 games at home, there has only been 17 goals in total – an average of 1.3 a game. QPR’s 13 away games this season have averaged 1.8 goals a game, and QPR’s last five away in the league have seen an average of just one goal a game (0-0, 1-0, 0-2, 2-0, 0-0). I’m as excited about the new signings as anyone else, and I still think we can win up in Hull, but instead of a couple of speculative correct score bets, I’m going big on under 2.5 - £30 @ 9/11 with Betfair (incidentally, you can get 7/4 that there will be under 1.5 goals, but that’s slightly riskier…)

Stan James are refunding all losing goal scorer bets if the game finishes goalless – the downside of that is that their odds are noticeably weaker than, say, Victor Chandler’s - 6/1 vs. 17/2 for Taarabt to score first for example. Now watch this one become a 4-3 classic…

For the second game, at home to Portsmouth, the odds are unfortunately not available at time of writing. What I would advise however, is that Portsmouth’s threadbare squad will be rested, having no game this weekend at all, whereas we will be coming off the trip up to Hull, and mindful of the fact that we will be away at Reading on the Friday. Having said that, there really is no reason why we can’t win this game – but erring on the side of caution I would look to put £10 on a QPR win – draw no bet – probably available at around 1/2.

Finally, my weekend multiple – and the FA Cup makes this nice and difficult as always. My first thought was to include Aston Villa vs. Blackburn – but Darren Bent is cup tied, and I just can’t see where the goals are going to come from there. So instead I’m going for a fairly simple 4 fold, Birmingham, Man U, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday all to win - £10 there @ 5/1 on Betfair.

For the Weekend:

Hull vs. QPR – under 2.5 goals - £30 @ 9/11 (Betfair)

QPR vs. Portsmouth – QPR win, Draw no bet - £10 @ TBA

Fourfold accumulator - Birmingham, Man U, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday all to win - £10 @ 5/1 (Betfair)
