Bristol City v Swansea - Match Preview

BRISTOL CITY V SWANSEA - MATCH PREVIEW

Brian Flynn takes his new look Swansea team to Bristol tonight hoping to build on Saturday's opening day win against Bury. Both teams got off to a flying start on Saturday, so expectations will be high from both sets of fans ahead of this Carling Cup 1st round fixture.

With Jason Smith and Lee Jenkins still injured, Flynn is expected to name an unchanged side to the one that brushed aside Bury on the weekend. One possible change though, could be the addition of striker Andy Robinson who signed a monthly contract on Monday. Winger Brad Maylett will be hoping to add to the hatrick he hit against Bury and new Swans striker Lee Trundle will certainly be hoping to add to his debut goal.

Bristol City manager Danny Wilson has named the same squad that beat Notts County 5-0 on the opening day but has not ruled out the possibility of a few changes to his starting line-up.

The Swans will be hoping for a bit of luck in a competition which has not seen them progress past the first round since the 1999/00 season, which incidentally was the year we won the 3rd Division Championship. With confidence high and a large jack away following, there could well be an upset on the cards and the possibility of a place in the second round draw on August 16th.

With both teams scoring 9 goals between them on Saturday, it could well be a high scoring match, and although the Swan's makeshift defence will be severely tested by last year's 2nd division play-off semi-finalists, we should have more than enough firepower to cause problems for Danny Wilson's side.
