Saints V Norwich The Preview
Saints V Norwich The Preview

Saints need to fins a bit more inspiration against Norwich City than they did on Saturday.

Saints take on the Canaries at St Mary's knowing that all a victory will do is keep alive their faint hopes of pushing into the play off's whilst a defeat could leave them perilously close to a relegation dogfight, so close is the gap between the top and the bottom six.

On Saturday against Bury, sadly the caretaker managers did little different to what Saints have been doing all season, either tactically or selection wise and lets be blunt that has to change right now otherwise it will be a similar result as it seems to be all season, that is a draw, a late defeat or with our fragile confidence we crumble.

Dodd & Gorman might feel that they are minding the shop and not able to try anything different, but of that is the case then I would have to ask what are they doing there, "do the same things and get the same results" is a good and accurate phrase, which is fine when you are winning but when you arent isnt.

The fact that we have been beaten only twice in the past two months  and ten league games is good, but only three of those games were victories' in short there are far too many draws and that is down to poor selection and substitutions, like last season we are clearly better players man for man than most sides, but we cant gel as a team and finish off sides, turning just two of those five draws would see us on the very fringes of the play off places.

Its not too late to make that late run, but we cant wait too long, Dodd & Gorman have to bbe brave against Norwich and make some changes and I dont mean enforced ones at the back.

For their part Norwich are hovering above the relegation spots and will come out fighting, but if they win here then they are only two points behind us and that should serve as a warning.

Like most games we have played, Saints are capable of coming away with the three points, but its time to show that we are up to the task.

Problem area looks to be in the centre of defence if Davies is fit then its problem solved, if he isnt then Viafara is a good option.

In the middle of the park we need to be brave, Hammill and Skacel out wide, Surman and Idiakez in the centre, Skacel did more on Saturday in 26 minutes than Euell has done in about 8 consecutive games, he may be a bit hit and miss but he can change games and at home we should be looking at an attacking viewpoint rather than defensive.

Players are motivated by their managers, to be blunt if they see Dodd and Gorman arent brave enough to change tactics, then that will communicate a meesage to the players and to the fans and that will be that Dodd and Gorman are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
