Saints At Norwich The Verdict
Saints At Norwich The Verdict

This was a must not lose game and Saints DIDN'T lose !

If this had been played at St Mary's, there would have been carnage in the stands at half time, Saints were 2-0 down in a game they just couldnt afford to lose, but as any travelling Saints fan will tell you, whatever you think about Rupert Lowe, Jan Poortvliet, Mark Wotte or indeed the age of some of the players, this is a side that never gives up and once again looking dead and buried, it didnt.

Maybe they rode their luck at times, but they fought back to earn a draw and give Saints fans hope that they can drag themselves out of the mire.

As I have always said this season is about a step at the time, with each point being a step forward, we would have taken a draw before the game and despite other results not really going our way, we have to view this in the greater scheme of things.

That being the case, our problems stem from December when six games saw a meagre return of only two points, it is this blip that leaves us stranded in the bottom two, however if we look at the last four games the position is healthier, five points is a return that if repeated till May would see us safe.

But of course the real problem is at home and winning games, we have to beat Swansea on Saturday, if we do so that will give us a great springboard to travel to Watford, another failure to win will leave us in desperate straits.

However Saints have generally performed best when the chips are down as the results at Preston, Reading and Norwich have shown, so there is no reason why they cannot beat Swansea.

Last night wasnt a great night for Saints with regard to the evening's results, but it might just be the turning point of the season, we now have a man in the side who can score goals in Saganowski, we have an experienced and commanding central defender in Saeijs, we now need to build on that promise.
