Swansea have been dealt a blow with the news that Fedo Bessone will be out of action for six weeks

Bessone was stretchered off during last night's victory over Brentford in the Carling Cup - a game which the Swans won 2-0.

Bessone was reported as hearing a crack when he went down and X-Rays today have confirmed his fear that he had broken a rib which will keep him out of action for up to six weeks report the Evening Post.

Bessone was a summer capture and after some impressive displays pre-season there was genuine belief that he would push Marcos Painter hard for a starting berth for the new season but having been on the bench against Charlton last weekend he was forced to wait for his competitive debut until last night.

And that debut ended after an hour when he was replaced by Angel Rangel himself just on the comeback from injury.

But that debuit was cut short and it is likely to be October until we see Bessone in action again.
