Brendan Rodgers admitted that a move for Jason Scotland would be an 'interesting' one after the player was linked with the Swans

The Swansea City manager was reacting after his side were linked with a move to the Ipswich Town player on Wednesday evening.

Scotland scored 45 league goals for the Swans in two seasons at the Liberty before he followed former manager Roberto Martinez to Wigan Athletic.

But with a change of manager at Ipswich there is speculation that he may return back to South Wales.

Rodgers told the Western Mail “He is someone who had two fantastic years here and scored a lot of goals,” said Rodgers. “Everyone knows Jason’s qualities and if he became available for a loan we would have to consider it.

“There was a possibility to buy him in the summer, but we didn’t have that sort of money and there were other things we needed to look at at the time at the club.

“But he is certainly a player that could be interesting.”

He added: “I don’t know what the situation is with him because I’ve not asked the question.

“Maybe it’s a case that he wants to play, but I’ve not spoken to anyone and he’s an Ipswich player.

“But you ask the same question as I did with Leon Britton that in between now and the end of the season would he help us finish as high as we can?

“It’s an interesting one. We have got Luke Moore, who will be a terrific signing for this club, and goalscorers in Stephen Dobbie and Craig Beattie, but Scotland is a goalscorer himself, so it’s an interesting one.”

Sources close to the player at Ipswich though have suggested told Planet Swans that there have been no formal talks with the player but you do wonder whether it is a case of there is no smoke...
