Shelvey Taking Confidence From Win
Tuesday, 28th Jan 2014 23:04

Jonjo Shelvey was on target again for the Swans tonight and he believes that the vital win for the Swans could give them confidence as they head into the weekend game against West Ham which could ease even further any relegation worries that may exist.

The Swans jumped five places from 15th to 10th in the Premier League on the back of the win although they could drop down a couple of places tomorrow dependent on other results but it lifted them five points clear of Fulham and currently six ahead of the relegation places with some more vital games to come.

The first of those is the Saturday lunchtime fixture this weekend away to West Ham who are currently sat in the bottom three and Shelvey wants his team mates to take the confidence that a first win in nine can bring into that important encounter.

“We desperately needed it. We’ve not been finishing teams off and scoring goals to win games.

“We’ve deserved a win but we’ve been coming up against top teams. Now we have to play teams who are around us.

“We’ll go to West Ham on Saturday with confidence from today.”

Shelvey's goal also had the stroke of luck about it that maybe has been missing in recent weeks as it took a clear deflection to hit the back of the net but ask any Swans fan and they won't worry about that knowing that much has gone against them in recent weeks.

So now we can move on with the confidence that Jonjo talked about after the game and there is no reason why we cannot record back to back victories when the game on Saturday has finished.
