It is now five Premier League games without a win for the Swans after they let another lead slip at Stoke but this time it was a slip that cost them all three points thanks to a joke penalty and a free header.

What makes it more painful is that the Swans should probably have been well out of sight long before Victor Moses took a dive in the penalty area just before half time and conned Michael Oliver into giving a penalty that sent the home side in level - a scoreline that they didn't deserve by any stretch of the imagination.

It was a familiar story for the Swans in a game where they dominated the early stages and should have been at least two goals up by the time Wilfried Bony scored our opening goal from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Ryan Shawcross as the first corner of the game was being taken.

As Bony sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot the Swans fans - vocal from the off - celebrated his second goal of the season but already there was a fear that we may regret the chances that we missed knowing that we should have converted at least one of them.

Gylfi was guilty of the first when he was played into space by a brilliant touch from Routledge but he hesitated, seemingly torn between shooting and going round the keeper. In the end he really did neither and the ball went out for a goal kick.

He almost made amends by setting up Ki just a few minutes later but the midfielders strike was straight at the keeper and another chance had gone begging. And then it was Gylfi again setting up Routledge who for reasons known only to him elected not to shoot at all with the ball sat up perfectly for the shot at goal.

It is chances like that which we have to learn to be taking more and more at this level and it in the end are the wasted chances here that cost us the win that the first half display should have set up.

That said we should have gone in at half time ahead had it not been for one of the worst refereeing decisions of the season to date. As Moses cut into the area he took a tumble under no real challenge from Rangel and he pointed to the spot which had 'I'm evening this one out' written all over it. And the evening out worked well enough as Charlie Adam scored the equaliser with a perfect penalty into the corner of the net.

It was without a turning point in a game where we had been the better team by some distance at that point. It seemed to take the wind out of the Swans sails and we never got back into the game after that incident.

As the second half progressed we were becoming more and more second best with the flowing football that cut the home side open in the first half very much missing in the second half and it was no real surprise when Walters headed home what turned out to be the winner.

We had become devoid of ideas at that point and again this is becoming a familiar story as we let teams get on top of us as the game goes on. We simply have to take the chances we create when we are on top as it is costing us points not to.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game in the first half but likewise plenty of negatives in the second half and much to think about ahead of the visit of Leicester next week which can never be classed as a must win but we cannot allow this run to go on much longer with Everton and Arsenal waiting after that game next Saturday.

Disappointing afternoon although would have loved to see how the second half would have panned out had the referee made the right decision.
