Ipswich v Blackpool Preview

If euthanasia was available in football, then Blackpool would be put out of their misery long before Saturday's trip to Portman Road. It is quite astonishing that the bookmakers are still edging their bets with odds on of 11/1 on an away win because anyone who puts money on that bet deserves at least ten times those odds. Imagine a 3 legged donkey going round the Grand National and that's Blackpool at Ipswich and don't expect the side to get anywhere near Beacher's Brook!

Without an away win all season, without any sort of a win in 13 games and reduced to a squad that would have struggled to compete in the old Central League, the Seasiders are limping not galloping out of this season. With relegation guaranteed, we have seen glimpses in the last three games of Lee Clark's side playing without the pressures of a season that has taken it's toll, however with only Gary Madine up top, it's hard to see how they can finish any side off with their current personnel.

Injuries to Joe Lewis and Grant Hall in the draw with Reading on Tuesday have also ended their seasons so the loanees will also miss out. Lewis will be replaced, as he was at the time, but Elliott Parish with Tom Aldred (hamstring), Miles Addison (knee), Henry Cameron (ankle) and Mark Waddington (foot) all missing due to injuries too.

Ipswich could start with Freddie Sears, Teddy Bishop and Jonny Williams after all three came on in the Huddersfield defeat on Easter Monday but David McGoldrick (thigh) is a doubt again.

A game which is immeasurably more important to Ipswich than Blackpool and one for the visitors which will likely pour more misery on what has been a miserable season.
