The Swans are the 12th most followed football club in this country on Twitter with 381,000 followers but they have some work to do to catch Arsenal who top the table with a massive 6.16 million.

A report released by Sky Sports looked at the clubs in the 92 who had the most followers with only 6 passing the 1 million mark and it was no real surprise to learn that they were the Premier League's perceived Top 6 clubs being Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham.

The Swans appeal has of course - as you would expect - rocketed since our promotion to the Premier League back in 2011 and that has seen not just a strong following locally on social media but worldwide thanks to the signings of the likes of Ki and Ayew and of course even Michael Laudrup when he was here.

There were several non-league teams inside the top 92, including FC United of Manchester (43rd; 58.7k), Hyde (55th; 39.4k), Salford City (67th; 31.2k), Cheltenham Town (75th; 28.8k), Tranmere Rovers (83rd; 26.2k), Wrexham (85th; 24.6k) and Goole AFC (88th; 24.2k).

League Two Morecambe FC earned the unfortunate accolade of being the least popular Football League team on the social media platform, with just 11.1k followers - to put that in perspective Planet Swans have 11.3k followers, maybe there is a new site strapline in there somewhere!
