Red Bull Leipzig Defender Linked With Hasenhuttl Reunion
Thursday, 17th Jan 2019 13:48

Red Bull Leipzig captain Willi Orban is being linked with a reunion with his former boss at the Bundesliga club Ralph Hasenhuttl.

It is an easy link for the media to make, but one that could have some mileage in it given that we desperately need a central defender with the Jekyll & Hyde performances of our current defence.

Willi Orban is a 26 year old 6ft 1 central defender who although German born has represented Hungary at full International level after electing to play for the country of his Father's birth in October 2018.

Starting with his home town club of Kaiserlauten he spent four years there and was a regular from the 2013/14 season.

This led to a move to RB Leipzig in 2015 and he is now in his third season at the club and is their Captain..

His current market value is said to be around the £15 million mark and after selling Manolo Gabbiadini this is not a fee that Saints would baulk at and the player is obviously well now to Hasenhuttl.

This seems a plausible signing and perhaps one that might happen.

If we can sign someone / anyone ...who's played for Ralph before, and know what is expected of him - then it must be a bonus. At least he should be an example to our lads who are still learning about ... " the Haselhuttl way" .

26 yeard old Bundes League player who has played at that level for several season and costs less than we paid for Elyounouissi?
Sign him please, before our (lack of) defending gives me a heart attack.

A 26 year old, German born central defender available at £15 million? I’ll pay for his air fare over here if it helps. Somebody of that stature, having worked under RH would be ideal, and surely would be an ideal signing. If the board veto this, then it will totally show what RH is up against!
