News Stories for Darren O'Dea

Another crap week in the life of Blackpool FC Fri 29th May 2015
You'd like to think in the crap world of Blackpool FC that one day we will finally hit rock bottom and things may start to improve. There have been many false dawns from the last minute escape from relegation at Wigan to the appointment of Jose Riga but each have proved little more than minor blips. In fact, if anything, those moments when you think we're finally on the up are worse than when we get slapped in the face with another piece of bad news - it's the hope that kills you!
No Pain, No Retain! Tue 19th May 2015
I have an image of the evil child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the look of joy on all the children's faces when they were released from his wicked grasp! Whilst they may now be out of work there can't be many of Blackpool's ex-players who aren't secretly relieved that they won't have to return to Gloomfield Road next season.
Derby v Blackpool Preview Tue 14th Apr 2015
A game with far reaching consequences for Derby but one that Blackpool will just want to get out of the way. There couldn't be two more different approaches from fans for this one and who knows with no pressure and nothing to lose, Lee Clark may just get that unwanted monkey off their back at the Ipro Stadium.
Blackpool back to bare bones Mon 06th Apr 2015
The Seasiders will have to complete the season without another body as it was revealed that Tom Aldred will miss the rest of the campaign with a hamstring injury. The 24 year old who joined from Accrington Stanley picked up the injury in training on Thursday.
Blackpool 1 Wigan 3 Sun 01st Mar 2015
So that is effectively that. Blackpool, unless there is a minor miracle or World War III will be playing their football in League One next season. Another appalling afternoon on the Fylde Coast where the foul weather matched the atrocious weather on an unplayable surface,
Brentford v Blackpool Preview Mon 23rd Feb 2015
Two games unbeaten for Lee Clark's side but four games without a win is the real stat. If Blackpool had won the last four games then they'd be knocking on the door to safety which shows that it can be done, however the chances of the Seasiders putting together a four game unbeaten run are as likely as Jeffrey Rentmeister being the next presenter of Top Gear. Another tough away trip takes 'Pool to Griffin Park where they face a Brentford surprise who have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season and could well end up in the top tier next season if they're form continues.
Blackburn v Blackpool Preview Fri 20th Feb 2015
Invariably journalists call this one a 'Lancashire Hot Pot' but truth be know this one is a bit more like 'Betty's Hot Pot'. No longer in demand but fondly remembered. After years of these two sides not playing each other, games at Ewood Park have always been fiercely contested and quite often were pivotal to the two sides fortunes. Whilst Blackpool would love to earn their first win on the road, the three points now would be welcome but not especially crucial. However, on the other side, another defeat away from home could further maroon the Seasiders at the foot of the table.
Blackpool 4 Nottingham Forest 4 Sun 15th Feb 2015
You could have put money on the fact that after 15 months of only scoring one goal at home that when Blackpool did eventually score more than one that we wouldn't go on and win the game. In the end, no one would have predicted we'd score four and still not win but the fact that the Seasiders were down to effectively 8 men for the last 15 minutes of the game and still came out with a point is credit to the players.
Wolves v Blackpool Preview Fri 16th Jan 2015
It wasn't that long ago that the Seasiders were a Premier League side and Wolves were struggling to come to terms in League One. Fast forward a few years and nowadays a trip to Molineux sends shivers down Blackpool fans spines. With Wolves looking to bounce back to the Premier League and within reach of the play offs, Lee Clark's side know it will be one of the biggest tests under the new manager,
Blackpool v Rotherham Preview Sun 28th Dec 2014
So to the halfway point of the season. After we've played Rotherham, there'll be 23 games on the point and at the moment 13 points to show for it. In the second half of last season we mustered just 14 points, so at least Lee Clark and his side have a chance to better what their predecessors did at the start of the year. Either way less than 30 points for what is effectively a whole season of football reflects where we're up to. We are in real relegation form and it's unlikely even the most optimistic Blackpool fan will feel we'll get out of this in 2015.
