When Dave Syers signed for Non league outfit Guiseley AFC less than a year ago, he could have been forgiven for thinking he'd reached the limits of the footballing echelons.
However, just a fortnight later, former England manager Peter Taylor invited him for a trial at Valley Parade and within a month he was lining up for his City debut in a 2-1 home win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup, having never kicked a ball for Guiseley.
Quite an upturn in fortunes!
12 months on, and Syers has been the one highlight in City's worst season in 45 years, a terrible season which many City fans will want to forget.
36 games, 8 goals from midfield (and sometimes full back!) and seen him rightly been named Player of the Season.
Congratulations, a well deserved award!
