Great day out
at 21:38 18 Jan 2020

We always have to think about how to get better.

Eze, BOZ, Masterson, Chair - all great today. Leeds had to use three players to keep tabs on him.

Great day out
at 19:58 18 Jan 2020

Yeah, a good day out.

But we’re not there, yet.

Kelly is miles better than Lumley, and it’s a failure of MW not recognizing or, rather, acting on that obvious fact much earlier in the season. However, I’m not sure he has sufficient aggression and physical presence to dominate the area and get to those high balls. He seemed somewhat passive, stuck on that line. Leeds was not capable of utilizing this (possible) problem. Others will. Kane is not a defender. His positioning is off. He is too often caught out on the wrong side of his man. Cameron is too slow on the ball from time to time, and tend to clear the ball towards the opposition’s attack, rather than away from it, when under pressure. But his strength is important. Our midfield was overran totally. That has happened before. It’s not a pretty sight. It must be fixed. Eze and BOZ are pure quality. They can keep any defense in the CC occupied as long as they get the right passes. But if they fall back, when we are under pressure, we have a hard time getting hold of the ball and reestablishing some kind of play. Then it’s just a matter of time before the other guys score. Today was a lucky exception. And don’t tell me it’s because Leeds is such a good team. That’s the wrong attitude. It’s because the players fall out of their position and start ball watching rather than marking and cutting of the opposition, and we lose shape. Work on it.

Man of the match kelly
at 19:13 18 Jan 2020

Lumley should have been out of the team many matches ago.

Kelly did really good to day. He was a match winner, on par with Welles.

However, I am not convinced that he is aggressive and strong enough in the area, to actually push players aside and get that high incoming ball. He wasn’t really tested on that to day, but there were some situations when he could have been more active. We shall find out.

Hugil is a mess. He has this infuriating combination of great positioning and - mostly - bad finishing.

We have to get our defense sorted out. We lack speed, positioning and a half decent keeper. That’s why this signing scares me, might be a signal that Eze is on his way out. Hopefully, though, it’s about reducing the stress on the squad.

You don’t get it, do you?

Smithies won us points, Lumley is losing us points.

Is this clear enough for you?

Anyone but Lumley. Just check the stats - lets in every second shot, worst of the division.

Of course he did.

What a travesty. Wining about his confidence, when his lack of ability is hurting the club.

This is the manager’s responsibility,

He better do something about it.

With you all the way. Lumley is a liability, has been all this season.

I don’t care about his feelings and confidence. He is simply far from good enough, might never be, and we need a new keeper.

Keeping Lumley in goal is a disgrace, and a disservice to the club and to him. He is not, currently and maybe never, good enough.

This isn’t a kindergarten or the Boy Scouts. This is a highly competitive league where the fans - the paying customers - have every right to expect that a manager deals with a problem like this.

Had Lumley been an outfield player, he would have been on the bench many matches ago. But because he is a keeper, in a match winning or match losing position, he is somehow to be given more chances and be treated more sensitivity than other players.

Bullshit. His insecurity and his mistakes has a negative influence on the team, the club and the fans.

Get him off!

Only commenting on issues that have not been raised in this forum before, would certainly focus the mind. However, there is nothing that hurts the team and bugs me more than a keeper who can't deliver. I'll move on when he has changed his ways, or been changed for somebody else.

With a good keeper this QPR-team is a play off-contender.

Ah, I get it, you're happy with midtable mediocracy in the CC and the odd "famous" victory, while you get off on the league cup win in 1967 and the 4-1 against MU in 1992 Same as every year....

Must be, because with Lumley we'll not challenge for promotion. That takes a matchwinner in goal. Nobody can make the case with any degree of credebility that Lumley is a matchwinner. Smithies was a matchwinner, Lumley is not.

This is no secret. Everybody with a minimum understanding of football can see that. If you don't believe your own eyes, check the statistics.

Lumley has a save percentage of 0.570. Almost every second shot inside the posts is a goal. Only Grabara, Huddersfield, is marginally worse in the division.

We cannot use Lumley in goal. Lumley might be a nice guy, but he is a bad keeper, and that's the trait that I'm paying to witness.

The Cardiff goal was a travesty. He saw the ball coming, all the way from 22 yards, and still couldn't manage to get his body behind the ball.

A steady string of basic mistakes, no depth perception and without any authority in the box. A serious contender in the CC must use a keeper that can be a matchwinner, not than a liability.

Is Kelly a better choise? He must be. Really.
