If you don't have one, you can sign up for free at www.genie.co.uk, any UK network works. This is a free service, and works on BTCellnet, Vodafone, Orange, one2one and Virgin mobiles.

Once you register a username at Genie, your email address will be in the format username@sms.genie.co.uk,one2one users can use the one2one.net phone service, but bear in mind that this costs a monthly subscription, and you can get the same service from Genie for free!
