Liverpool are reported to have sent a scout to watch striker Connor Wickham in action for the Blues at Watford on Tuesday. The 17-year-old put in one of his best displays since returning from injury as the Blues lost 2-1 to the Hornets.
The Reds, who Wickham supported as a boy, were strongly linked with the Hereford-born youngster in the summer and all the bigger Premier League sides have been represented at Town matches this season, having been monitoring Wickham's progress since he was a schoolboy. Manchester United were amongst those to send a scout to watch Saturday’s game against Coventry.
Tottenham are understood to have made bids of up to £8 million during the summer, while Arsenal are also said to be very keen on the England U19 international, who signed a two-year deal with the Blues in March.
Elsewhere, former Town midfielder Liam Trotter continues to be linked with Sunderland. The 22-year-old joined Millwall for an undisclosed fee in the summer after rejecting contract at Portman Road and the Blues are understood to have negotiated a sell-on fee as part of that deal.
Ex-Town loanee Franny Jeffers has joined Australian side the Newcastle Jets on a 10-game guest contract having been unable to find a new club in the UK after his release by Sheffield Wednesday.
