Twelve European clubs.. really? Seems like we just give it to those who wanted to be in the European Super League.

Announce Dixon-Bonner
at 17:25 20 Jun 2023

Well, sort of. He was with us last season, but is now signed for another year, until next summer. Let's hope we can see a bit more of him this season than we did last. I seem to remember he played well when he came on.

It was great to see Dykes score again for Scotland. However, he was not the only QPR player in action yesterday and that seems to have been missed in the mist of some who prefer to just attack our players when they have no idea about the game.

Seny played a full game in goal for Senegal in their 1-1 draw in Benin. Let's hope he is in goal on Tuesday evening when they host Brazil. Meanwhile Ilias was an unused sub in Morocco's 2-1 loss at South Africa.

Sierra Leone play today.

Officially with a loss to Fulham. Looking forward to a trip to the coast again.

Meanwhile, Eze nets twice for Palace as they despatch Bournemouth. Just noticed that he scored in the 2-0 win at Dean Court as well. He must like playing Bournemouth.

Shots on target
at 09:51 11 May 2023

I know this has been brought up time and time again and according to many we had zero shots on target again in the last game, but I feel that I want to put myself out there and say this is all rubbish and I am getting a little peeved that people keep sprouting it, wether here or on podcasts. It comes down to the definition of a shot on target by the person at the game who makes up the stats. From what appears quite obvious, this definition is that a shot on target is one that either goes into the goal or is saved by the keeper. The terminology is all wrong and is leading to everyone misreading the real situation.

That is for example, at the Burnley game, the three shots that Dickie saved on the line were not shots on target or should not have been included in the total. They come under blocked shots even though every one of them was goal bound. So, how many shots that are goal bound are blocked? Quite a few every game. For example, in the first half on Monday Dykes had a goal bound shot blocked which then bounced off Adomah and back to Dykes who appears to have another goal bound shot, but this time bouncing off Amos, who is standing in an offside position. According to the "statistics", neither of Dykes' shots were a shot on target even though both were goal bound, or at least the first was.

I will not say there are others for us, but I will say that when using this statistic, you need to be careful. The statistic is a misnomer and is not full representative of what is actual reality. So, to say that we had zero shots on target on Monday is, well, rubbish and clearly not true.

FA want to alter employment contracts
at 07:34 27 Mar 2023

The FA want to alter the way injured players are treated in the National League where 22 of the 24 teams are full professional and for levels below.

While this does not affect the EFL or higher, it is somewhat concerning to players that this could be a stepping stone to altering contracts for those at this level. Mind you, I am sure a number of people here would love us to be able to terminate certain player's contracts.

As reported this weekend in Kent Online:
"Under current contracts, an injured player continues to be paid their full wages for the duration of their contract.

However, under new proposals, a player would receive their full wages for just 12 weeks in the National League or six weeks below National League level before reverting to statutory sick pay of £99.35 a week.

In addition, clubs would have powers to terminate the contract of a player, with three months' notice, if they are unable to play through illness or injury for a period of four months.

At present, a contract can only be terminated if a player suffers a permanent incapacity."

The proposals were also made without any consultation with the players but only with the PFA being made aware.

Dykes
at 16:02 25 Mar 2023

Came off the bench with over 30 to go against Cyprus today when Adams went down. Played well and gave a good assist for the second goal. Worked well with his teammates. Many touches and strength quite decent and hopefully he can get back to full playing. With the same quality around him - Chair and Willock - I feel a lot more confident about our near future.

Pretty sure, unless Adams makes a good recovery, he will start against Spain on Tuesday evening.

Sky have left us alone again. We have not been picked for the latest release of games up to the end of Easter, 10 Apr.

Mind you, they also did the right thing by moving Millwall v Luton on Good Friday to lunchtime.

Six of the worst - Preston Match Thread
at 12:43 17 Dec 2022

Been some time since my last effort at this. I tend to only surface when we have six losses or non-wins in a row. Been successful twice, but not the last time. So, here we go again.

I reckon we'll have some changes to the lineup today. But a win to the good boys, 2-1. Dykes to score.

Clive's predictions
at 09:38 15 Sep 2022

While we are all revelling in last night's victory, getting over the hangovers or trying to speak today after too much singing, I thought I'd check how Clive was going in tipping results in his previews ..

Blackburn: Clive 0-1 but actual 0-1 <-- his only correct
Boro: 0-2 but 3-2
Sunderland: 0-2 but 2-2
Blackpool: 2-0 but 0-1
Rotherham: 2-1 but 1-1
Watford: 0-2 but 3-2
Hull: 1-1 but 3-1
Swansea: 1-1 but 0-1
Millwall: 0-2 but 2-0

So, when Clive picks us to lose we have won 3 times, drawn 1 and lost 1.
The two times he picked us to win we lost and drew

That is Clive, you have to pick us to lose from now on and never pick us to win!

I think I have too much time on my hands.
