Andy Haines is the man in the middle this weekend, as Dale host Port Vale on Saturday. We get TVOS to do his usual bit and give us the lowdown on the official.

Andy Haines, who is in his second season on the league list, will be the referee for Saturday’s home fixture with Port Vale.

This is his second appearance of the campaign at Spotland as he was also in the middle for our dramatic 2-1 defeat of Chesterfield in September, when Tom Kennedy scored an injury time free-kick from the edge of the area.

The Tyne & Wear based official also took charge of two games at Spotland last term – the 1-1 draw with Macclesfield and our 2-1 defeat of Bradford in April.

He was also the referee for Dale’s magnificent 4-3 win at Chesterfield last season, when David Perkins scored a fine hat-trick.

Andy has taken charge of 26 games this campaign, showing 71 yellow cards and two red.

His only league match outside the bottom two divisions came in February, when he refereed Preston v Plymouth..

Port Vale have also seen Mr Haines this term as he was in the middle for their 3-0 home defeat by Brentford in November.
