Norwich make another bid for Snodgrass

Sky Sports are reporting that Norwich City have made another bid for Robert Snodgrass, although there hasn’t yet been any official confirmation from either club.

While the saga of the Bahraini take-over has been rumbling on for most of the summer, there is another story that simply refuses to go away. For some time Norwich have been chasing Snodgrass (presumably thinking that they haven’t got enough former Leeds players already) and today Sky have said that the Canaries have come back with another bid for the player.

They first tried to sign the Scotland international last summer, only to be put off by Leeds valuing the Snoddy at £8m. But as Snodgrass now has only one year left on his contract, the Carrow Road mob will know that they will stand a much better chance of getting their man this time, as Leeds might be forced to cash in on the player now, rather than risk losing him in 12 months time.

So will Snodgrass still be a Leeds player when the transfer window closes at the end of August? It could be that if the takeover finally goes through the new owners will offer Snodgrass a better contact than the one currently on offer. However, Snoddy has made no secret of his ambition to play at the highest level, and will be tempted to take the opportunity to play in the Premier League right away, especially if he listens to his former captain Johnny Howson.

Norwich might be facing a difficult second season in the Premiership without the manager that got them there, but Howson is confident they can still hold their own under new boss Chris Hughton. “Paul Lambert did a terrific job here and it is our responsibility now as players and the staff coming in to carry that momentum on. The club has been on the up in the last three seasons, and we have to keep up the hard work. We still have all the players here and I am sure we can do it."

It has also been reported that Paul Lambert is still interested in signing Snodgrass, but for his new club Aston Villa, so if Leeds are to have any chance of holding onto our captain we need to get this takeover done and dusted pretty damn soon.
