Goodfellow..Certainly knows the way to goal, hits another stunner out of the blue Trunds...Was Trunds Forbes...lively, scored McLeod...ineffective lasted 40 mins, others around me thought he did well Leon..flashes of tidy play, nothing too noteworthy Roberto...excellent play, unfortunately 80% of our play goes through him, don't we have any other midfielders? KOL...Hrrrmph Tate....showed his class again, two brilliant crosses created two fabulous goals, must start cutting out the casualness. Izzy...one or two minor errors generally sound Austin...Was Austin, decent play Willy ....Safe Big Black guy from Barry Town... Incredibly squat and strong, very direct and just heads for goal. Bunch of youngsters in 2nd half nothing of note to record, defence got very sloppy throughout this period and Merthyr could have scored on more than one occasion due to this. Special mention here for my first sighting of the elusive, Gary Fisken. There are some players that you only have to look at to know that they're not a footballer, their appearance, the way they move, their athleticism, their ball control. This guy is a complete and utter turkey I knew it before he even touched the ball just looking at his gait and stance, he is without doubt hopeless, the odd occasion he got anywhere near the ball confirming my early suspicions. The thought that any manager ever looked at him and thought..'This boy can do a job for us'...is too laughable for words. Added to which his only contribution is as a chopper which would cost us anyway. So those of you hoping that for some strange reason he will come good, forget it. |

That means he was 100 miles per hour all through the game. |

Good to hear that El Capitan played well. With the complete lack of squad strengthening this Summer, Martinez will be a vital player next season. |

Martinez was Martinez - neat, tidy and everything went through him. In the first half we utterly dominated the game. Did well considering the comedic state of the pitch. Sadly O'Leary looked poor. 4-3-3 really doesn't suit him. A special mention has to be made for Goodfellow - I really didn't rate him at all last season, but he looked a totally different player today. He's ahead of Macleod at the moment. Oh, and Trundle looks really sharp. But please Lee - just once, try to use your right foot. |

Overall a pleasing performance. Trundle looked fitter than ever and took his 2 goals well ( 1 an excellent far post header ). McLeod has more than anyone to prove his worth to the Jack Army, but in fairness appeared to pick up an injury early on and struggled until made way for Man of the Match for me, Goodfellow. Thats 5 goals in 9 appearances for the Swans from the left footer, not bad from someone who was being critisised as "lightweight" by some. Some of his direct running at defenders will earn us numerous free kicks and penalties throughout this season as all defenders hate small players with quick feet and blistering pace. Think he could be an excellent signing. Akinfenwa - well, not the greatest debut but time will tell. Disappointed not to see Trundle and Bayo play together though. Defemce looked sound first half and i thought some of the youngsters did well in the second half, especially the two young central defenders who had to deal with Merthyrs huge centre forward. Just a mention for the pitch, must have been cut by the same bloke who did the Merthyr right backs barnet. Shocking!! |
