Thorpe Interestes Cheltenham

Thorpe Interests Cheltenham

Swansea striker Lee Thorpe has emerged as a transfer target for Cheltenham Town.

Thorpe is reportedly interesting the League Two side who progressed to the 4th Round of the FA Cup last night and a glamorous home tie against Premiership giants Newcastle. Thorpe, though wouldn't be able to play in the tie having been cup-tied earlier in the season whilst on loan at Peterborough.

Thorpe arrived at Swansea last season and scored two goals at the end of the season assisting us towards promotion to League One. However, the arrival in the summer of Adebayo Akinfenwa and more recently of Leon Knight have pushed Thorpe further down the pecking order at White Rock.

And with Kenny Jackett still seemingly in the market for another striker a move away from Swansea is now surely his only option. His loan spell at Peterborough this season was positive enough despite being goalless but a permanent move was out of the question with Thorpe living in Bristol.

However, that is not a stumbling block because of its close proximity in relative terms to Cheltenham and the Robins are poised to open talks in the next day or so.
