Willy And Ricketts In Differing Decisions

Different Decisions For Willy & Sam

Sam Ricketts has revealed that the decision to leave the Liberty Stadium was the hardest decision of his career but goalkeeper Willy Gueret says making the decision to stay was the easiest.

Speaking to the Evening Post on the day that the Swans confirmed that they had accepted the bid for the Welsh international full back, Ricketts said "Hopefully, the move to Hull can only help my Wales career, "Playing in the Championship every week should make me a better player, and that should help me in terms of getting into the Wales team regularly. "I owe Swansea a lot for helping me earn international recognition in the first place. "I've had two great years at Swansea. "I've got a lot of friends at the club and I've been really happy living there. "It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my life, never mind my football career, "I've loved being at Swansea so much, but the chance to play Championship football next season was something I just couldn't turn down. But it was an agonising decision to make because I've been so happy at Swansea. "I haven't been able to sleep for three days. I've only just exchanged contracts on a new house in the area. That shows you I didn't have any plans to leave. But I hope people can appreciate what a great chance this is for me."

On the flip side, Willy, who signed a two year contract in the Evening Post said he had no issues with signing the contract despite the pain of play off defeat last season. "Most of our energy must go into getting promotion this year," Gueret said. "This is a club that has a great future and I want to be part of it."

"I didn't want to be playing for MK Dons," he said. "The gaffer contacted me about a new contract when I was on holiday and I came back early to get it done. "I told them that I wanted it to be sorted out before the first game of the new season and it has been. ''I was very happy with the way things were done and I had no problem in signing the new contract."

And competition for places was not something that unduly worried the ex Millwall keeper "We need two keepers," Gueret stated. "It is a long season. We play in five competitions and we need to have cover. "But pressure does not get to me very often and the staff here are very confident in my ability."
