Saints are heading to Athens for their next transfer target according to reports in the media.

Saints are reportably about to raid Greek Club Olympiakos for Algerian winger Djamel Abdoun, although at a fee of around £1.5 million he doesnt seem to be in the same target level of our other alledged transfer targets of this summer.

Abdoun was spotted by Saints scouting system when they went to watch his team mate David Fuster who it is believed still remains a potential target.

Abdoun who will be 28 in February started his career at PSG and also had a loan spell at Man ity in 2007 although an appearance as a substitute in an FA Cup tie was all he had to show for his four months at the club, ironically that was against Saints in a 3-1 defeat for us.

Adboun's career seemed to take off when he moved to Greece in August 2010 to join Kavala, in his one season at the club he was the top for assists in the Greek league as well as being voted second best player in the league, it looked like he would join Panathanaikos, but it was cross city rivals Olympiakos who secured his signature.

A regular in the Olympiakos side for the last two seasons as they won back to back titles (although this should be noted that with AEK & others suffering big financial problems its not the greatest of competitions at present)

Abdoun was actually born in France and represented them at youth level but in 2010 he elected to play for the country of his parents birth, Algeria and has since won 11 caps.

If he signs for Saints it should be easy to fit in, Olympiakos ground, (Pictured) is very like St Mary's, they also play in a red & white striped kit, sadly he wont play in that, at least not this season.
