Both pundits are back to look ahead to our crucial six pointer with Crystal Palace and search for value elsewhere on a packed weekend of sporting action.

Brian is in the form of his LFW career at the moment, returning another £140.56 profit last week to boost his running total to £505.77. It would have been better still had Blackburn got a goal against ten man Portsmouth. Lewis tactically stuck all his money on notebook selections last week, so his total remains a £469.78 deficit.

Brian Power
Blackburn’s inability to beat ten man Pompey last week cost us a good payout on last week’s football bet but with three out of the four returning 70.56 and Darren Bent getting the first goal at odds 6/1 it proved to be another decent week with a 140.56 return.

It is a good weekend for Sport with the FA Cup semi finals, El Classico in Spain , the Masters, the grand prix, the quarter finals in Rugby’s Heineken cup (not even a sport –ed), the Grand National and of course the big game in South London.

It really is the six pointer that the media love if we lose we will be up to our necks in the brown stuff but I think we can sneak a draw and will go for the correct score of 2-2 with Stewart to get the first goal.

The Grand National is a bookies dream with the a lot of the nation having their one bet a year ( I say one bet but they normally pick six or seven horses. I was going to tell you to back Creosote because it is good over fences but jovial scouser Jimmy Tarbuck would not allow me to use his joke. I am going for two selections for the National with a £5 e/w on Snowy Morning who was third two years ago and Ellerslie George just for the links with the R’s.

I backed Villa to beat Chelsea a couple of weeks ago and if they has not conceded seven I would have collected !!! It will be a lot closer on Saturday and I think it will go to extra time so will have a correct score of 1-1.

On the football front I will continue with my four team selection but at this time of the season there are a lot of teams safe and with nothing to play for so freak results do happen so tread carefully.

Finally a Mother Superior devised a self service procedure at her convent school and put a sign up next to the apples saying: ‘Take only apple only, the Good Lord is watching you.’

Further down the line someone put a sign up next to the biscuits saying: ‘Take as many as you want- God is watching the apples.’

Good luck for the weekend For the weekend:
£5 Correct Score Palace 2 QPR 2
£5 Stewart to score first 33/1

Grand National
£7.50 e/w Snowy Morning 16/1
£2.50 e/w Ellerslie George 100/1

£7.50 Chelsea 1 Villa 1 7/1

£2.50 trebles and £2.50 acca
Huddersfield 11/8
Swindon 8/5
Rotheram 9/5
Notts Co 11/8

QPR don’t do things easily do they. Following their demolition jobs of West Bromwich Albion and Plymouth, relegation fears were seemingly banished into obscurity. Five weeks later and the wheels have started to fall off the Warnock wagon, leaving us still needing four points to assure our status in next season’s Championship. This weekend sees us travel to Crystal Palace in what is probably the stand out game of the weekend in the Football League.

Rangers are in dreadful form, I’ve said that a few too many times this season, but the signs are there that we have the strength and more importantly the ability to stay up. But it looks a tall order to go to Selhurst this weekend and achieve a victory even with the figure of death Paul Hart in charge. Palace are in decent form and the place will be rocking in order to put one over on Warnock. I can see a very poor game being won by the odd goal by the home side. Crystal Palace to win by one goal at 3-1 with Paddy power will be the selection this weekend.

I will continue to look towards big accumulators in order to reduce my betting deficit after a few near misses in past weeks. Mid table obscurity against all to play for teams is the plan of action this weekend.

For the weekend:
£10 on Crystal Palace to win by one goal – 3-1 Paddypower
£40 Acca on Manchester City (4-7 Ladbrokes), West Ham (10-11 Coral), Huddersfield (7-5 Boylesports) and Notts County (7-5 Coral).

For the Notebook:
£25 on Fernando Torres to become World Player of the Year – 16-1 Skybet

£25 on Xavi to become World Player of the Year – 25-1 Skybet
