Huntington on trial at Huish Park

Central defender Paul Huntington is hoping to continue playing football in League One next season as he is currently on trial at Yeovil Town. Huntington spent six months with County last season following his release from Leeds United, and he has decided to try his luck elsewhere rather than take up the offer of a new deal at Edgeley Park.

The 22-year-old was signed on a six-month deal by former manager Gary Ablett last season with that deal running out at the end of the 2009/10 season. Leonard Curtis, in charge of running the team whilst we were in administration, offered all out of contract players new six months deals whilst the ownership issue was resolved although unlike others, the former Newcastle and Leeds player has decided to try and continue his career elsewhere.

Huntington has been training with the Huish Park outfit and manager Terry Skiverton has been impressed with what he has seen so far. Paul showed glimpses of talent when he was on loan at County last season to show why he was so highly rated by former clubs Newcastle United and Leeds United, although at times he also struggled in a back four that was shipping goals for fun and losing on a weekly basis.

Paul made a total of 26 appearances for the Hatters in two loan spells during the 2009/10 season, with 17 coming in the second half of the season after he was signed on a short term contract.
