Swailes comits to another year at Edgeley Park
Swailes comits to another year at Edgeley Park

County's squad for the forthcoming season is growing by the day as we have completed the signing of another player today. The player in question is no stranger to Edgeley Park or the County faithful as it is central defender Danny Swailes. The 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

Swailes joined County on a six-month deal in January following his release from his contract at MK Dons and he went on to make 20 appearances for Gary Ablett's side as we finished bottom of League One.

Like most of the out of contract players, Danny had been waiting to see how the managerial issue was resolved before putting pen to paper on a new deal offered to him by the administrators, although he has now committed himself to another year at Edgeley Park following the appointment of Paul Simpson as manager and the takeover by the 2015 Consortium.

Swailes captained the side when right back Johnny Mullins was absent through injury during the second half of last season, and as Mullins has recently left the club to sign for fellow League Two side Rotherham United it wouldn't be a surprise to see him named full time captain for the forthcoming season by the new manager.
