Rovers Held to A 0-0 Draw
Sunday, 11th Aug 2019 16:54

Bristol Rovers were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Wycombe Wanderers.

There was still no place in the starting line up for last seasons top goalscorer Johnson Clarke-Harris, but he was amongst the subs. Tom Nichols and Abu Ogogo were recalled to the starting line up with Kyle Bennet and Alex Rodman dropping to the subs bench.

It was a game of very little chance with Rovers struggling to create many real chances just like last weekend defeat to Blackpool, saying that Rovers did have the better of the first-half chances with Wycombe seemingly happy to stay pretty compact and defensive. Striker Victor Adeboyejo for the second week in a row saw his effort rebound off the woodwork after exchanging passes with Tom Nichols. Wycombe keeper Ryan Allsop had to be on hand to push over Liam Sercombe's free-kick on the stroke of half time.

In the second half, neither team could create any openings until 89th minute when defender Tom Davies did well to clear a Jack Grimmer shot off the line to keep the score level.

So one point from Rovers opening two games and although it will take time for the new players to bond it's pretty clear that Rovers need some more attacking threat.
