Chester City are the visitors to Spotland this Tuesday night to Spotland, and as always, we bring you the lowdown on the referee (Mark Haywood of Wakefield) to resurrect any old grudges we might still hold.
Rory Prendergast’s favourite referee, Mark Haywood, will referee the game with Chester on Tuesday.Mr Haywood visited Spotland FOUR times in 2007, but this is the first time we will have seen him in 2008.
He was in charge of the Easter Monday game against Barnet in April 2007 and then returned for the Rose Bowl/Centenary Challenge game with Oldham three months later.
Early last season he was in the middle when we knocked Stoke out of the Carling Cup on penalties, while at the start of December he took charge of the rearranged goalless draw with Wrexham.
Mark was also the referee when we won on penalties at Wrexham in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October 2006.
Mr Haywood is known to Rory from their younger days around the Wakefield area.
