Strangely enough we havent received a transfer fee in for a player for over two years.
Since Markus Liebherr bought the club a little over two years ago many players have come and gone, but although many have been bought in at various transfer fees, we havent recieved a penny back for those that have left.
Most have gone at the end of their contracts, both the summer of 2010 & 11 saw a plethora of players either not be offered new ones or as in the case of Oscar Gobern decline the one on the table.
There are others who have been allowed to move on to other clubs on free transfers whilst still in contract, Marek Saganowski & Paul Wotton spring to mind, but the fact is we havent received a penny in transfer fees since David McGoldrick and Andrew Surman departed shortly after our relegation in 2009.
There is nothing really sinister in this, after all we had a depleted squad when Liebherr took over the reigns and that being the case it was a question of getting rid of the dead wood and bringing in fresh faces, most of which have been happy to stay, whislt some of our loan signings have been iffy, in the main our purchases have been good.
So who will be the first player of the new regime to bring in cash, will it be Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain or perhaps Jason Puncheon, certainly both are favourites to fill this spot, it could even be Joseph Mills, although it could be that he is another that the Club allow to go on a free in the middle of his contract.
But there could be an outsider and a surprise departure, cerainly the squad is still a little top heavy and there may be some who feel that they are not going to figure in the manager's plans and succumb to overtures elsewhere, at this moment no names spring to mind, although Im sure there are those who feel they arent going to get a fair crack of the whip and might be tempted.
