Terriers could bid for Mc.Cormack as exodus continues

Despite all the talk of the possibility of a big money investment in the club, some of our key players are still reluctant to commit themselves to the club. The latest is that Huddersfield Town are likely to make an attempt to sign Ross McCormack.

I would have thought that if the talks on a possible investment in the club were making good progress then somebody would have suggested to the players with time running out on their contracts that the club might be able to make a better offer in the near future. But McCormack has yet to agree an extension to his current contract and Neil Warnock said last month that “his representatives made it clear that they’re looking for a more significant increase”.

As McCormack still has a year to go on his current deal Leeds would receive a fee if he was to leave the club now, and it seems that Leeds would prefer to cash in on the player, rather than tempt him with the possibility of a better offer in a few months time. According to the Yorkshire Post Huddesfield are preparing a bid for McCormack, which Leeds will accept if the price is right.

Bristol City have also been mentioned as  possible destination, but it’s implausible that McCormack would want to go to a club which only just avoided relegation rather than linking up with Grayson again, when the Leeds boss obviously rates the striker. The Post also say that Wigan Athletic and West Ham United have been ‘linked’ with the player, although I have my doubts whether he’s good enough for the Premiership.

Adam Clayton and Aidan White are also on the transfer list after rejecting new deals, although like McCormack Leeds would also receive fees for both players if they were to leave the club now. Warnock could do with the extra transfer funds but he was a bit coy when asked what the situation is with these players. “I’ve had one or two enquiries about players but I’ll only say when we accept an offer and a player moves on.”

We can but hope that the investment can be agreed pretty damn soon, as Leeds United are going absolutely nowhere while our best players continue to leave the club.
