With a new defender sure to be top of Joe Dunne's summer wish list, the U's boss has made it clear that he would like to see Alex Wynter back in ColU colours next season.
The 20-year-old, who impressed during a month's loan from Crystal Palace, is out of contract this summer, and Dunne has indicated that he would either like to see Wynter join permanently, or return on loan, depending on whether he signs a new deal at Selhurst Park.
Speaking to the Gazette, Dunne said: "We've spoken to his (Wynter's) representative at Palace and I'll speak to Tony (Pulis) over the next couple of days.
"Alex is someone I'd like to bring to the club and everybody knows that.
"I hope that we'll have some news on that in the next couple of days."
Wynter made six appearance for the U's first team (5 starts/1 sub) and scored in the home game against Brentford.
