Saints chances of landing one of their summer transfer targets has been boosted by the news that AC Milan appear to no longer be interested in the player.
The target in question is Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula who is expected to leave the French club this summer, AC Milan allegedly tabled a £13.2 million bid for the player but now they have landed an alternative in Geoffrey Kondogbia they are said to be no longer interested.
Le Parisien have reported that Saints see Imbula as the ideal replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin if he should leave St Mary's and it will make it easier for Saints to land Imbula if he is indeed on their list if they are not competing with the likes of AC Milan, although Valencia and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be sniffing around.
However Saints would not be afraid to lose Scheneiderlin to Spurs if it meant raking in £25 million and replacing him with Imbula at a little over half of that, Saints supporters might not find that easy to swallow, but long term it could be more beneficial for the club.
