U's Vs Millwall - Durham's Preview

KK and his rejuvenated charges welcome the Lions fresh from their defeat of leaders Burton Albion. Colchester however have no need to harbour any inferiority complex against the South London outfit; impressive performances against the Latics and Saddlers, combined with brilliant victories against Donny Rovers and the Sky Blues, have given the Super U’s real belief that survival is more than possible.

Neil Harris was purring after defeating the leaders and welcomes back Forde, Abdou and Ferguson from International duty. They have 9 away wins in the league and 5 draws and 5 defeats, but recent away form has not been quite as good.

As tough as the match will be KK knows that his team are on fire at present and will be buoyed by a priceless clean sheet against Mowbray’s Coventry City at the Ricoh.

It is unfortunate that injuries continue to plague the U’s though, with no less than 8 regulars out of the side. Indeed, Edwards, Shorey and Chambers have recently been added to that list.

However if Edwards and Shorey are indeed match fit as suggested on the club site, then they would play in the back 4.

KK still has a talented squad to choose from and some bang inform players amongst their ranks:

Parish

Brindley Eastman Kent Vincent-Young

Garvan Moncur Gilbey

Massey Porter Lee

Subs:

Bransgrove Harney Dunne Ambrose Lapslie Wright Bonne

Weather recently has been kind and the surface should be in good order for the weekend. A decent crowd is expected with 1700 Lions and Lionesses expected plus 4,000 of the faithful.

There is plenty of interest in the game with top and bottom of the table affected by the result:

TOP
Burton 39 75
Wigan 39 74
___________
Walsall 37 68
Gillingham 38 66
Millwall 39 65
Bradford 39 64

Blackpool 40 42

COLCHESTER 39 34

The key fixtures this weekend for Colchester are:

KK has asked for vocal support to out sing the away fans and the faithful will certainly be in good voice, if we can start well and maintain the quality of performances of late.

Expect a tough and close game, but one which Colchester can prevail in.

Enjoy the game
