Cameron James has gone on loan to Chelmsford City for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old defender was a regular in the U's central defence last season, but has found first team opportunities limited this term, and has fallen further down the pecking order with club captain Luke Prosser recently returning from long-term injury.
The Clarets currently sit eighth is the National League South.
