LFW Weekend Championship Preview

LFW looks ahead to what's happening elsewhere this weekend in the Coca Cola Championship.

After the International Break, LFW welcomes you back to the Championship Preview. Even after the two week lay off, it is good to see that things haven’t changed much as there is yet another Newcastle game getting live TV coverage, as the Sky Sports Cameras travel to the City Ground to see them take on Nottingham Forest. It’s a tough looking game this for the league leaders, with Forest going into this one on the back of three straight wins.

The lunchtime kick off match is one that catches the eye as Scunthorpe take on Sheffield United. Although the league position isn’t great, Scunny are a match for anyone on their own turf and the Blades are without a win in three. Second placed West Brom, with respect, look to have the home banker of the day as they take on struggling Reading at the Hawthorns. But in saying that, 7 out of the Royals 10 points this season, have come on their travels.

Elsewhere around the top six, and Cardiff have a home tie with Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough take on Watford at the Riverside and Preston travel to Loftus Road to take on QPR – LFW Preview of the game will be online soon… Just outside the top six are Leicester, who take on Derby at the Walkers Stadium.

Down at the bottom and somewhat surprisingly still after 11 games, we still have a side yet to register a league win, in Roy Keane’s Ipswich and it certainly isn’t getting any easier for the Tractor Boys as improving Swansea are the visitors to Portman Road and are unbeaten in five. There are tough looking games for the remainder of the bottom three, with Peterborough travelling to Bristol City and Plymouth making another long old poke up North to Blackpool.

What often happens after an International Break, is a midweek programme of fixtures, which all take place next Tuesday evening and I am extremely pleased to say, that looking down the fixtures, the midweek journeys for the away supporters are NOT that ludicrous this time around, even for the Green Army who are at Bristol City.
