The U's originally made an approach for the Seagull's skipper earlier this month, with a bid thought to be in the region of £200,000 being rejected by the South coast club. However, Brighton have now accepted an offer from the U's after they transfer listed the player last week because his current contract expires at the end of this season and he has failed to agree new contract.
With tomorrow being the last day for permanent transfers this season, the move will be completed then if terms are agreed in time.
