What an amazing goal! I'd never seen it before. Tell me it won goal of the season that year?!
Found this video of highlights from the game. Great to see the goal from another angle but begs the question of why was he so subdued after scoring. Really weird bearing in mind the absolute quality of the goal and even more so when you see his reaction to the equaliser. Answers on a post...
And to the op, pleased for your nephew to have met the legend that is Bobby Flay.
Can some larakin post the goal he scored up at the Abbey the previous season please. It shows the Wham! goal was not a freak. He nearly did something similar at the season opener at OT as he did at the Boleyn.
A great goal scorer and a scorer of some great goals and still my fave R striker. Maybe a lack of pace accepted, still scandalous he only got a sniff of a chance with England.

Yes, good egg!
It's the subtle touch that throws their defence one way, as he goes another. The effort at OT was similar to the Wham! one.
Three great away days I recall from my yoof. Ironically, of the three, it was the one to the Abbey that had the most 'trouble'! Their larakins used to go behind the away end and lob things over the stand. Whereas United and Wham! saw you adopt guerilla tactics to get in and out safely.

Now I don't remember that one - great goal and great find - thanks for posting!
