Happy League 2016/17 Season round-up 23:44 - Jul 1 with 820 viewsmfb_cufc

Here is the belated round-up of last season.

I think it is common knowledge now that mfb_cufc won all four competitions this season. I would like to thank you all for your congratulations, and kind comments regarding this. It is always an honour to win the Premier League against such stiff competition, but to win all four, I guess I just had that bit of luck required to win the knock-out tournaments.

Premier
I would like to start with a special mention for burnsieespana, who after winning Division One in his first season, was very unfortunate not to win a trophy this time round. After leading the Premier for a majority of the season, he had settle for the runners-up spot. A position he also achieved in the Champions League and Charity Shield. After avoiding relegation last season, by virtue of having more 3 pointers, it was a big step forward for sevebalo, when by having more 3 pointers than anybody in both divisions, he got a well deserved place in the Charity Shield. Missed weeks at a vital time of the season probably robbed jonestones of that final Charity Shield spot. After his promotion the previous season, this was still a good first shot at the Premier for him. It was missed weeks that had a big bearing on relegation as well, causing ethicsgirl and wessex_exile to suffer the drop. For the second season in a row RSCOSWORTH avoids being relegated, just by having more 3 pointers than the member in the final relegation spot. In this case it was ethicsgirl, who after being champ the previous season, followed the same fate for mrhappy. I hope there is not a trend being set here. They were joined in Division One by BFG, who would have settled for his usual mid-table finish. As for those who did finish in mid-table. After struggling early, a good second-half to the season saw Sector4 just failing to make the Charity Shield. After spending most of the season fighting relegation, a good finish meant that thrillseeker would be thrilled to avoid the drop. A good start to the season for Gate16 looked like he was on course to achieve his usual top three finish, but a mid-season slump helped put paid to that. It was an up and down season for Tropical_Us after his promotion, and in the end he would be pleased to maintain his Premier status.

Division One
It was a big struggle for 3 pointers that held back noah4x4, with only 6 after Week 18. But an impressive 23 in the last 20 weeks, enabled him to win the Division One title for the third time. Just losing out on the most 3 pointer rule was Colukev, but he would still be pleased to get promoted, after losing in the play-offs the previous two seasons. They are joined in Division One by gsy163, who made it third time lucky in the play-offs. The unlucky one to miss out on promotion was basher2010, who after topping the table for virtually the whole season, just found it three weeks too long. Still a good first season for him, and proof again that no experience is required to be good at this prediction game. Also losing out in the play-offs were mrhappy, who made a brave attempt to regain his Premier status, and durham_exile, whose incredible final week gave him that opportunity. A couple of missed weeks probably cost concordman a play-off spot, that looked on for most of the season. Even though he got 26 points more this season than last, a lack of 3 pointers meant Blue4U2 fell short on the play-off front. Not such a good season for desthegooner, but his Happy Cup win last season showed what he his capable of. Unfortunately Daniel got the wooden spoon for third year running. Even though they finished in the bottom half, it was good to welcome back OhOriOri and Pinault_Noir to the League. I was sorry to see gerry_us leave during the season, and will be pleased to welcome back this season.

Not surprisingly there were more 1-1 results than any other again this season. Here is a full breakdown on how the seasons 300 games finished, including Charity Shield and play-off games. With the previous season totals in brackets.

Wonderful administration by a fine player. Well done Mfb_cufc

As three times winner of Division One yet always relegated next season I am evidently the Crystal Palace of this competition. Intend to be back for 2017-18 (but not back in Division One).
