Week 8 Results

MANCHESTER UNITED 4 CRYSTAL PALACE 0

Such a predictable result, as Palace continue their quest to break all the records for no points or goals at the beginning of a season. One of the weeks big bankers, that had 4 getting it spot-on, and a further 18 having the outcome.

CHELSEA 0 MANCHESTER CITY 1
A narrow win for City, that was more convincing than the scoreline suggests. Nobody had this spot-on, and just 3 got the outcome.

MILLWALL 1 BARNSLEY 3
A shock result, with Barnsley getting their first away win of the season. This was such a banker that nobody got any points from this game. Their were 21 who predicted a win for Millwall, with 11 going for a 2-0, in what was the weeks most predicted result.

ROTHERHAM 1 NORTHAMPTON 0
Rotherham have scored more goals at home than any other team in all four divisions, but only one was required to win this game. Another of the weeks bankers, with 5 having it spot-on, and another 16 getting the outcome.

CHESTERFIELD 0 CHELTENHAM 2
Cheltenham record their first away victory since February. Another game with no 3 pointers, but 5 did get the outcome. There were 12 who predicted a win for Jack Lester in his first game as Chesterfield manager.

SWINDON 2 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0
First clean sheet at home this season for Swindon. There were 3 who had this spot-on, and a further 12 got the outcome.

This was a week that looked good for the home teams. But it didn't work out that way, with three fixtures ending in a win for the visitors. There were only 12 predictions for an away win over the six games, with none yielding 3 points. So it was left to three teams who did manage to win at home, to provide us with the weeks twelve 3 pointers, and all but 8 of the weeks total points. A tremendous effort then from Sector4 to get those wins for Man Utd, Rotherham and Swindon spot-on, to give him an excellent 9 points, and the honour of being the weeks top scorer. One other performance of merit came from Daniel, who was the only one to get two 3 pointers, the wins for Rotherham and Swindon, on his way to a very good 7 points.

In the Premier, the lead changes hands again, with another solid work from noah4x4 moving him up four places to reach the summit. After his past struggles in the top league, he is finally showing the form that won him the Division one title three times. Early season leader mfb_cufc drops another two places, but with still only two points separating the top five, this has the potential to be the most exciting title race for years. The other big mover in this division was Sector4, whose top scoring effort took him three places, and has him eyeing up the Charity Shield spots now, after being more concerned about relegation a week ago. Talking of being concerned, I am, after missing weeks again from Gate16 and Colukev. I know there are far more important things in life than the Happy League, so I hope all is well with them.

In Division One, with the top two both getting three outcomes, there is no change there.
Though this is the first week this season that concordman has failed to get a 3 pointer. Another decent week for Daniel, takes him to within a point of an automatic spot. The revival from TheHappyGooner continues, and they move up another two places, and back into the play-off places. Another four outcomes for eagledares, and he continues to have more of them than anybody, it is now five weeks without a 3 pointer for him though, but he edges closer to the play-offs without them. Also eyeing up the play-offs is wessex_exile, who is gradually getting into his stride, after a slow start to the season.

THE TABLES (56 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

concordman is away, and left a message to say he wants 2-1 all games, unless he says otherwise.
