Hmm, this is quickly unravelling from a bit embarrassing to a full blown scandal

Jewish Chronicle reporting that May was fully aware Patel had had meetings when she denied it

I don't think you're a Nazi in any way. I'm simply pointing out the political perspective you have outlined pretty much mirrors that of the National Socialists. It's the best description of your political position I can think of. The socialist part of 'National Socialist' is usually forgotten, it seems. What happened to that party in Germany is another story.

Because it was just a name to grab attention in their early days. In 1930, Hitler said: "Our adopted term 'Socialist' has nothing to do with Marxist Socialism. Marxism is anti-property; true Socialism is not". There was nothing socialist in the Nazis economic programme - they were corpratists really. They enthused about class strata and private property, they saw economics as means to military endeavour rather than providing for the citizens, and distributed social welfare on the basis of racism rather than need. In fact the only unmoveable position they had was opposition to communism and socialism.

Yes it's true - it ended up being a fig leaf term. But if you look at the Front National in France under Marine Le Pen, many of their policies are very similar to those Clive stated.

Racist, Sexist yada, yada
Some of our more verbose posters should perhaps take a step back and realise that a goodly part of this thread was attempting to reconcile the current state of politics and media coverage thereof. Where absolute polarity is encouraged with zippo tolerance of views that encompass a bit this way and a bit that way. Where people are genuinely confused about where they should stand and why they feel betrayed by the ratbags that represent them. Where the media rightly reveal wrongdoing but also feast 24/7 upon every nuance. Jezuz who gives a 5hit what flight Priti Patel is on or what she eat for breakfast. Furthermore sneakily raising terminology in a manner that becomes attached to someone is also a particularly nasty act

If society deems a person can lose their entire career for asking someone out 'the wrong way' then that society gets the politicians it deserves.

It's becoming tit for tat (if I'm even allowed to say that these days) but what you're seeing is the Left undermining society as a whole. It's a plan and it's working.

First you question every British historical victory and every person representative of it going back hundreds of years, then you bring down the politicians, monarchy and commentators who represent it's modern day equivalent. Last but not least, you silence the man on the street. What better way to do that than cluster bomb every man as a potential rapist?

The Left are bringing us their very own form of Fundamentalism. It's very clever but we're sleep walking towards catastrophe.

I don’t think you know what Marxist means, otherwise you wouldn’t be throwing it around like an insult.

You also failed to mention that the Red book stunt by McDonnell was a piss take of George Osborne who had just sold the Chinese billions of pounds worth of UK national assets.

Marxist isnt an insult anymore than capitalist or communist .Nothing in my post suggests that but you are well schooled in deflection methods so you response doesnt surprise me . Why should I mention why he did it , the fact that he chose that method of "pisstake" tells the story ..

Mate, democratic politics is subjective. There is no "right answer". That's the point. People disagree on the right answer. We all passionately believe that our answer is the right one. That's very different from it categorically being the right answer though.

Priti Patel on 23:00 - Nov 9 with 4186 viewsHunterhoop

And that's not me siding with Essex or agreeing with anyone's interpretation of Marxism or McDonnell's actions in that example.

Just wish we could get away from this black/white, good/evil, partisan narrative.

Politics is not football.

No political party can possibly have a monopoly on the best policies, most competent people, or prove they are "right". Everyone and every party should be open to the idea they may be wrong.

I voted LD, but I certainly didn't agree with everything they proposed or have said!

For many politics appears to have become pick a side, nail your colours to the mast, and defend them to the hilt, which I think is sad, a detrimental to the good of the UK....much as Clive said more eloquently.

Whichever poster complained that this thread has descended into pettiness got it 100% correct.

I hold very extreme views on a lot of things that would cause pollsters a nightmare if they tried to predict which way I’ll vote. For me it comes down to two things:

1. Apply common sense to decision making - alas sense is neither common and that which purports to be it, is often nonsense. I try to look at an issue without being encumbered by politics or religion.

2. Long term thinking - I believe that governments should keep their noses out of my business! Privatisation is good for some things, but not all! Where things involve public safety, health and dare I say it, morals, then yes, such things are not suitable in private hands. Why, because business does not think of the long term consequences of what it does, and of crucial importance, does not do. It’s motivation is profit in the short term, and few care/think about tomorrow.

I do believe however, in solid legislation that is fair and applied consistently. And if people were to think for themselves and not just follow what their party says, then we might see more considered, long term effective and consistently solid legislation and decision making than some of the utter nonsense that comes out of Westminster, DC and Brussels!!

Someone said on here, I’m not trawling back, who gives a toss about Priti Patel flying back from Nairobi. You might like to know that this completely unnecessary trip cost us (taxpayers, not you with accounts in the Caymans) an extra £8000 because she changed to an earlier flight to avoid, or tried to avoid, facing the music. Eight grand down the pan. Not much in the great plan of things but is Eight grand that the NHS missed out on.

Strong and stable my arse.

Just watched this mendacious, self centred, mercenary, lying cow of an MP on Anglia TV tonight. She placed a wreath at the Remembrance Service at Witham today, and then trounced off with a huge beaming smile for the cameras. As she walked away from the memorial she was busy agreeing the sick making press release below, She has as much respect for the poor sods her party sent to their deaths in two world wars to defend their profits and their estates, as an Alsatian on heat in Fulham Broadway.

See http://www.priti4witham.com/content/remembrance

Priti cynical tart of the first order. Boris has probably given her a heads up or two to act as she does. A job for Dynorod.

If I can get a clip of her grinning her arse off after laying the wreath to disappearing out of the gates before conning a large gin, I will post it.

You might suspect this has really pissed me off. Witch. Cow. Tart. A Blind Date For Boris. Two paper bags please.

Have you seen the TV clip? Thought not. Unbelievably crass. If she was American - imagine how many tweets Trump would be sparking off.

If she was a bloke, a Martian, or a DNA sample, she'd get the same bile from me. Dis - phooking - unbelievable. Only shown on local news not national. Jaw droppingly awful.

Find it, watch it, agree it.

Loose change compared to how much this country is going to lose in reduced GDP, lost business, lost jobs, additional bureaucratic expenditure and so on.

And then there's the estimated £140m+ cost of holding the referendum and another £140m+ on a completely pointless, if hilarious, general election.
