Round 2 Results

BRADFORD CITY 3 PLYMOUTH 1
FLEETWOOD 1 HEREFORD 1
GILLINGHAM 1 CARLISLE 1
MK DONS 4 MAIDSTONE 1
SHREWSBURY 2 MORECAMBE 0
AFC WIMBLEDON 3 CHARLTON 1
GATESHEAD 0 LUTON 5
NEWPORT 2 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0
WOKING 1 PETERBOROUGH 1
WYCOMBE 3 LEATHERHEAD 1

With the 2nd round fixtures going pretty much to form there was a lot of good scoring again, with twenty-nine 3 pointers achieved overall. Leading the way was Sector4, who had four spot-on in his way to a brilliant 14 points.

A solid score keeps TheHappyGooner in pole position to qualify for the quarter-finals. Favourite to join them is BFG, who reproduced his good league form to get three spot-on, the win for MK Dons and the draws at Fleetwood and Woking on his way to an excellent 13 points. Though with three from the Premier League, including the present top two, still well in contention, this group is far from being cut and dried.

Group B.....................R2.......3pts.......1pt.....Total

durham_exile............8.........4...........9.........21
gerry_us....................11.........4...........9..........21
concordman...............6..........2...........9..........15
Daniel.........................9..........3...........5..........14
eagledares.................7...........1...........8..........11
OhOriOri....................4...........1...........8..........11

Another decent score for durham_exile helps him maintain the scorching pace he has set in this group. But it is only the first to post rule that keeps him ahead of gerry_us, who had the Gillingham draw and the Newport win spot-on to give him a terrific 11 points. Those two are obviously strong favourites for the last eight, but after getting 3 points for the draws at Fleetwood, Gillingham and Woking it is going to take another really decent score from Daniel or from concordman to give them any chance of qualifying.

Group C.....................R2.......3pts........1pt......Total

Sector4....................14.........4............6.........18
medicine_man..........12.........3.............9.........18
burnsieespana...........9..........2.............5.........11
mfb_cufc ...................6..........1.............8.........11
Pinault_Noir...............6..........0.............9 .........9
sevebalo....................0..........2.............1..........7

A brilliant 14 points for Sector4 with four spot-on, the wins for Bradford City, MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Newport, has put him in an almost unassailable position for a quarter-final place. The same applies to medicine_man, who promised a magic potion for the Cup, and he delivered thanks to having the draws for Fleetwood and Woking spot-on to give him a superb 12 points. By getting 3 points for the MK Dons and Wycombe wins burnsieespana recovered from a poor start, but along with current holder mfb_cufc, they have all to do now to qualify.

Group D.....................R2.......3pts........1pt......Total

RSCOSWORTH..........13.........5............6.........21
Gate16.......................7...........5.............4.........17
wessex_exile.............11..........2.............8.........14
gsy163.......................5............2.............8.........14
basher2010...............8............2.............8.........14
Blue4U2....................8............1............10........13

Another excellent performance to comment on from this group with RSCOSWORTH, who had the wins for MK Dons and Shrewsbury and the Gillingham draw spot-on to give him the 13 points that makes him odds on to qualify for the last eight. A solid score from Round 1 leader Gate16 makes him favorite to join him, but if wessex_exile can match his splendid 11 points, that included having the Newport win and the Fleetwood draw spot-on, he would have every chance. The other three members of this group also remain well in contention.

Round 3 Fixtures Don't forget the usual tie-breaker rules will apply if two members end with the same points.
