WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1 PRESTON NORTH END 5

After the high scoring in the first two rounds of fixtures, the final round of games produced enough surprise results to make it difficult for those looking for a decent score to make a late bid for the quarter-finals. In fact in the end the eight qualifiers after the second round of games all held their ground and therefore made the quarter-finals.

The final group tables are as follows:-

Group A..........................R3.......3pts......1pt.......Total

TheHappyGooner (Q).....3...........3.........11........20
BFG (Q) ...........................4...........3..........10........19
Tropical_Us......................6...........1..........16........19
noah4x4 ..........................6...........1..........15........18
thrillseeker.......................6...........1..........15........18
jonestones - expelled

After a decent first round score TheHappyGooner has always been strong favourites to qualify from this group, but in the end they do just enough. They were probably fortunate nobody got a 3 pointer in the final round of games. They are joined in the quarter-finals by BFG, who just scraped through on the most 3 pointer rule, in a group that could not have been any tighter.

Group B..........................R3.......3pts.......1pt.......Total

durham_exile (Q)..........9.........6...........12.........30
gerry_us (Q)...................9..........5...........15..........30
concordman...................6..........2...........15..........21
Daniel.............................5..........4............7...........19
eagledares......................8..........2...........13..........19
OhOriOri........................3...........1...........11..........14

The two qualifiers durham_exile and gerry_us have set a scorching pace from the start, and deservedly go through. Getting the Coventry 2-1 spot-on made sure the former held onto top spot by virtue of the most 3 pointers.

Group C.........................R3.......3pts........1pt.......Total

medicine_man (Q)........8.........4............14.........26
Sector4 (Q)....................7..........5.............10.........25
sevebalo.......................11.........4..............6..........18
burnsieespana ..............7..........3..............9..........18
mfb_cufc.......................3..........1.............11 .........14
Pinault_Noir..................2..........0.............11..........11

The two qualifiers from this group medicine_man and Sector4 both leave their poor league form way behind, as they confirm the strong position they made for themselves after the second round of games. A weeks top score for sevebalo was all to no avail.

Group D...........................R3.......3pts........1pt......Total

RSCOSWORTH (Q)..........8...........6............11........29
Gate16 (Q).......................5...........5.............7..........22
gsy163.............................7...........3.............12.........21
Blue4U2...........................6...........1............16.........19
basher2010.....................4............2............12.........18
wessex_exile...................3............2............11.........17

Another decent score for RSCOSWORTH confirms his quarter-final place. He is joined in the last eight by Gate16 thanks to being another to have the Coventry 2-1 spot-on.

The quarter-final draw is :-

(1) TheHappyGooner v gerry_us

(2) durham_exile v BFG

(3) medicine_man v Gate16

(4) RSCOSWORTH v Sector4

The semi-finals will be:-

Winners of game 1 v Winners of game 4

Winners of game 2 v Winners of game 3

For our upcoming fixture please just do the right thing and post all the scores please.
You spent many years building up what in now an institution in the Happy League and Happy Cup but recently you appear not to be bothered to post in a correct way. How soon before you ask for all 1-0 for the rest of the season please? There are two of you for goodness sake, surely one can spend a couple of minutes a week?
And no, this is NOT a pre-match Morinho / Conte "wind-up" just because I am drawn against you, merely a genuine attempt to restore the reputation of the prediction leagues and to recognise the work both you and latterly MFB obviously put in to making it great.

Well said and thank you

Don’t worry we will be motivated

Our season is going to plan - we must not get lazy or complacent.

I will pass on your comments to the other half.

Thank you again

Feeling quite overwhelmed to be in the company of such an illustrious group of fellow qualifiers. Presumably the more random nature of cup scores is more suited to my prediction method as my league form remains dire. Or maybe the prediction potion I cooked up actually works. Must be just the right amount of magic mushrooms.
