New Striker 15:54 - May 23 with 1544 viewshen4114

With only 53 goals scored last season we need a goalscorer more than ever particularly if we want to get out of this league third time lucky. Buying young inexperienced strikers won't buy us goals and It's time to look for a more experienced head. We all bemoaned some of Chris Porter's performances (and he was in no way prolific) but his experience and goals certainly have been missed. Akinde who has been transfer listed by Barnet after they were relegated would certainly I think fit the bill. Kristian Dennis who scored 19 goals last term for a woeful Chesterfield side or even Christian Doidge who scored 20 in the league last term would add value and most importantly goals. We need a proven goalscorer AT THIS LEVEL to fire the United to promotion.

The extra £1 per match for a "free" programme that most people don't want should fund the new striker, no problem.

Might need two new strikers.

BBC Essex understands the #ColU striker Mikael Mandron is a transfer target for at least two clubs this Summer. Lincoln City are being strongly linked with a move for the Frenchman who scored ten goals in League Two last season. Mandron has one year left on his contract.

Whilst he scored 10 goals he's never looked like the right player for whatever system McGreal plays. Won't be overly upset if he leaves.

Particularly if we get £1000,000 plus for him.

Just seen Lincoln have signed Boreham Woods Portuguese born striker so most likely puts and end to any interest from Lincoln.

Maybe we are paying top dollar if he has refused a move to a higher division?

Speaking of Peterborough,.....

Do we recall widespread U's fan criticism of Jack Marriott when at WHCS on loan? 22 goals in 79 games for Luton and 27 goals in 44 for Posh perhaps suggest we don't have a clue!

I believe the accepted term for the Mandron thing is "fake news". The whole story from bid accepted to personal terms rejected only took about an hour. Mischievous little internet types.

Remember Marriott and Bonne playing in U23 game end of season at WHCS against Bristol City (?) with McG in charge, both would have made Denny Johnston look like Harry Kane !

Peterborough have signed Matt Godden from Stevenage, so that probably finishes their interest in Mandron.

On a lighter note our joker from last season Odelusi has signed for Halifax. "I'm both delighted and fortunate to have Sanmi on board as there was strong competition from football league clubs for his signature," Halifax manager Jamie Fullarton said.

That must be a typo. Surely it should say Sunday instead of football.

Just seen on the OMB, we’ve got an eye on Frank Nouble from Newport County:

Formerly at West Ham and Ipswich, does that mean he’s from around these parts?
