Col U fans Bill and Bryn review the World Cup 12:17 - Jul 15 with 870 viewsBrynandBill

By the time the England reached the semis it was beginning to feel like the Us Championship Promotion season!

Wivenhoe’s Colne Radio couldn’t let the end of a cracking World Cup go without comment. Members of the team that put together the Colchester Art Centre’s World Cup warm up event - Why England Lose - back on Sunday 10th July came together again on Colne Radio to consider how England did so well! Bryn Griffiths and Bill Lawrance of the Bryn and Bill Football show reunited to put together an idiosyncratic special on Colne Radio’s Box 39 Show.

Bryn and Bill were joined by Carrie Dunn, the author of the excellent Roar of the Lionesses and sports academic, to consider what turned out to be an excellent World Cup. Carrie, who was an absolute start at the Colchester Arts Centre, considers Lord Sir Gareth Southgate’s performance, the fall of so many great footballing nations and an equality perspective on the competition.

Mike Harwood, the Il Presidente of Wivenhoe Poetry, joined us to deliver some new world cup poems and capture the raw emotion of the competition. Mike considers how we can be proud of our New England.

Don’t forget it’s the Lionesses (qualification permitting) who are up next in the World Cup in 2019. It’s coming home!
