Great shame as Hurst was doing a splendid job in my opinion.

Agree leadbelly. U must have been happy last night!
Lambert has not done a lot in football terms since leaving Norwich. If he gets the job must be the first who has managed us, Norwich and Ipswich!

43 points required to stay up in the Championship last season, 51 points in 2016/17. If Lambert does get the job he’ll have to perform significantly better at Ipswich than he’s done at his last few jobs to secure safety. Good luck...not.

I fear Lambert will keep the SH1T in the Championship although it would be great if he could continue the good work started by Hurst.

Statistically based on career wins percentage Lambert was our most successful manager, albeit a period of under 12 months. His subsequent record at other clubs shows that he isn't some Messiah. The question is, would he have any money in January to buy Ipswich out of trouble as the current squad won't succeed.

Great ennit! Less than 7 months until we are moved into the same Division.

Perhaps someone should tell Look East that we have a football team here in Colchester and that Lambert managed us, too. They should be reminded that, in his time here, he conjured up 7-1 win over Look East's favourites.

Anglia ITV (Friday) managed to announce....."...and Colchester United travel to Lincoln".

Utter lack of TV media awareness beyond Nodge and Ispshit. But when the U's, Southend and MK Dons are all playing the Tractor Boys next season they will have to pay more attention.

We shouldn't be surprised where our local media outlets are concerned. By contrast, it must have been mentioned on 5Live 2 or 3 times at least during my drive over from Wiltshire.

Pleased to see Lambert got off to a flyer at Millwall on Saturday, albeit sitting in the stand.

Lambert continues the good work of Project Hurst

10 points clear.

10 points clear but effectively 11 due to their impressive goal difference. Lambert has made no discernible difference so far. Will the chairman be prepared to throw money at the problem this month in the hope of a miracle? If he does, what decent player would want to join anyway? All looking good to me.

Trouble is our team don't seem to want to play them next season.
Sadly we are now 8th and falling like a stone.

I do hope so. The Ipswich fan I work with has already given it up as a bad job.

Lambert has made his first signing...defender Callum Elder on loan from Leicester City. Never made an appearance for them but apparently a really good player according to PL.

Also interested in signing Will Keane from Hull City. Injury prone 25 year old striker who has an impressive scoring record of 6 goals in 78 games. A goal every 13 games should see them flying up the table.

Looking good!
