...and just got a notification I have have a €150 fine.

Anyone have any experience of this? Gut feeling is to not pay and there's not much they'll do, unless anyone here knows differently?

Were you driving a rental?

I’ve had to pay on the spot fine previously as I didn’t live there

Pay it.

Cross border traffic law introduced in 2015 gives states power to pursue drivers for:
Speeding
Not wearing seatbelt
Drink driving
Failing to stop at a red light
Driving under the influence of drugs
Not wearing a helmet
Driving in a forbidden lane
Using a mobile phone or other form of communications device whilst driving

If not you will likely be refused access to Spain in the future. Similarly, they'll likely pursue through Spanish courts in absentia and commence debt recovery.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

I’d imagine the Rental company will have your CC details on file and will pay it if you don’t as it will be in the T&c’s usually

Clive wants to know if this will still be the case after Brexit?

and the rental company will whack on a massive admin fee for their 'hard work' when they have to deal with it. If you werent in a rental car, then i wouldnt be sure but in a rental car, pretty sure you want to be dealing with that ticket yourself.

Depends on many things: do we have a Labour or Tory government? Whether the much heralded striker(s) are any fecking use? How many Smyth is racking up for Wycombe? Freeman is sold to Arsenal for £30m and we didn’t have a sell on clause. The collective self-flagellation caused by the appointment of Tactical Tim as our manager in October, with Warburton’s Wobblers bottom on 8 points, and the outcome of the all out war that develops on the still undecided issue: Taraabt - genius or tosser?

Rental company won’t pay the fine as it’s not them that committed the offence. They passed on the offenders details and will more than likely charge an admin fee for doing so.

My boy worked as a temp for one recently and in some cases, the admin fee was higher than the fine. One guy got caught out not paying the Dartford toll crossing but as it was his first offence was allowed to pay the £2.50. The hire company charged him £35 for their admin charge.

In reply to the original question, I’d pay it as they could either refuse to let you back in the country (or if/when Brexit occurs refuse a visa) or pass it on to a debt collection agency.

I've had quite a few tickets from Italy. They often turn up at my house 6 - 12 months after I've been there. But I've checked with family in Italy and they're geniune and you have to pay them. Loads more CCTV clocking driving offences there than we have here.
The last one I had was in Pisa. I was driving around looking for a parking space and even though I didn't know it until I got the thing in the post apparently I drove down a street that was for buses only. I've looked at it on Google Streetview and there are signs there saying no cars so I don't know how I missed them.
Anyway there was a photo included with the stuff they sent. It was definitely me driving but the best bit was my Mrs who was in the photo picking her nose.
