No park and ride 18:31 - Dec 24 with 1377 views | noah4x4 | The Park and Ride will NOT be open for either of our two festive season home matches. Combine that with Sunday Service buses and I suspect we won't enjoy the normal decent festive period attendances. The Victoria Inn is also closed on New Years Day, but is opening early on Sunday for U's supporters. Frankly, it's time bus services to the Stadium were resolved. The nearest stop (Bedford Road/Mill Road) is too distant for the less able, whilst the Chesterwell Estate has bus stops but no services. With the Northern Gateway sports complex opening soon, something really must be done. | | | | |

Does sound like a positive reversal. But something had to be done given no shuttle buses. Just checked again on the Essex First Bus site. NO services on New Years Day, but (normal) Sunday service tomorrow. Mini cabs will have a field day on Jan 1st. Note also that the Victoria Inn is shut on NYD. EDIT Just read this again. Might this announcement mean the park and ride is open ONLY for ‘event parking’ on New Years Day? The OWS doesn’t say there is a bus service running? Since been on Arriva and Essex Highways websites. The Arriva site suggests only its Colchester to Stansted service is operating plus the Braintree Village Shuttle. Frankly, I am not convinced there is any public transport on 1st January even if event parking is being permitted. [Post edited 28 Dec 2019 17:16]
